Story:
The ship was built in 1912 by Escher Wyss AG in Zurich and operated on the Jurassic.
It is the only half-salon steamer and also the only sea and river ship in Switzerland.
Because the salon is built into the fuselage and the chimney is retractable, the Neuchâtel can drive under the canal bridges and so on all three lakes.
In 1968, the Neuchâtel was taken out of service because of a boiler defect.
Until 2006, the ship was a floating restaurant in Neuchâtel.
The Bern dentist and patron Marc Oesterle has made it possible for the Trivapor Foundation to buy Neuchâtel 2007 and to put it back into service by 2013, thanks to a large amount (Fr.
With contributions from the Federal Government, Loterie Romande, the cantons of Neuchâtel and Vaud, many coastal communities and private donors, costs of around CHF 14 million were covered.
Since the original Escher-Wyss steam engine was scrapped, it was necessary to search for a suitable replacement.
Trivapor found in Holland the machine of the wheel steamer Ludwig Fessler vom Chiemsee.
It was built by Maffei in 1926.
