Story:
The fleut DERFFLINGER belonged to the fleet of the Electorate of Brandenburg at the end of the 17th century.
At that time, she carried rum and others to Africa to trade in slaves, who were traded in the West Indies for sugar, which was then brought to Europe, and later used in the War of the Spanish Succession.
The ship was a fleut, a sailboat type widely developed at that time by the Dutch. The ship was named after the cavalry general Georg von Derfflinger, who won in 1675 at the Battle of Fehrbellin for the Elector of Brandenburg a victory against the Swedes.
He is shown on the transom of the ship.
The flag over it shows the Kurbrandenburgschen Adler with Kurhut, scepter, sword and breast shield.
The ship capsized in 1691 in the English Channel. The DERFFLINGER model is a gem for every exhibition.
The somewhat idiosyncratic hull shape of the flutes is also shown in the model well.
